Chaat & Street Food
The heart of Karachi eaten standing up at a roadside thela — that tangy, crunchy, yogurt-cooled chaos is exactly what we serve on Devon Avenue. Every chaat is built to order, 100% Zabiha Halal, and meant to be shared.
Chaat isn't a dish so much as a feeling — the snap of a crisp puri, a flood of tamarind and mint, the cool of yogurt against chaat masala heat. In Karachi, chaat carts cluster wherever people gather, and the best ones are judged on balance: sweet, sour, spicy and savory all landing in one bite. We brought that same standard to Chicago's Devon Avenue corridor, the city's home for authentic South Asian food.
Our chaat counter runs from the iconic paani puri — hollow shells you fill and pop whole, chasing the spiced tamarind water — through layered dahi puri, samosa chaat, papdi chaat and our signature Karachi Mix. If you're new to chaat, start with dahi puri (gentle, yogurt-forward) and work toward the bolder, spicier plates. Most of our chaat is vegetarian, and everything is prepared fresh when you order, never sitting under a heat lamp.
